An Evening of American Music -- a mix of Swing, Jazz and good old American Blues with:
Rick Whitehead, guitarist, is a former leader of perhaps the finest service band in the country, The Airmen of Note. He toured internationally and now leads one of DC's most exciting jazz combos. Steve Wolf, bass, has also toured internationally with many of the regions finest bands, and for the last 20 years has led the popular Swing Speak quartet. Barry Hart, drums, has performed with The Tommy Dorsey Big Band, The Ink Spots, Bob Hope, Lou Rawls and The Drifters. He has played drums professionally since the age of 16. A technical master, he is as much fun to watch as he is to listen to. All three performers are recipients of numerous music awards and promise a great evening of music. | August 28 Sat., 8 PM |
The "Hot Buttered Nuggets" are genuine Americana variety show bands with a musical display of diverse styles and forms. The audience can look forward to a robust selection of music, including: Traditional Swing, Vintage Rockabilly, New Orleans Style Dixieland Jazz, Ragtime and Mississippi Delta Blues. They “Showcase” the music of Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley, The Mills Brothers, Johnny Cash, Louie Prima, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, The Ink Spots, Leon Redbone, Tom Waits, Eddie Peabody, Spike Jones, Fats Domino and many more. During the act, you'll hear a comical vocal version of “Dueling Banjos” and hilarious impersonations of Tuba and Drum solos. It’s live entertainment at its best!
